David Avison, AIS President

President's Message

It is now three months since the present AIS Council took office - a quarter of our tenure together. It is natural for members to ask what we are doing. In this message, therefore, I take stock and I look at each set of activities as they relate to members of Council and their roles and our strategies. They relate to membership, publications, communications, technology, conferences, accreditation, education, SIGS and chapters, regional activities and finance.
Pole vaultExecutive Director's Message

If you read my message last month you might recall the reference I made to the recently completed Olympics.  This month we continue that theme by raising the bar on our commitment to you, our members.

What you can expect:
  • A timely acknowledgment of your inquiry.
  • A specific target date for completion of the request.
  • A referral to other resources.
  • We'll ask you how we did.

AIS TeamworkTransparency Corner
by David Avison

In the second of a series which I have called 'Transparency Corner' I answer questions related to the AIS Office staff. Let me give a bit of background first. When the AIS was originally conceived, it was an outgrowth from the success of our first conference, ICIS.  In those days much of the 'work' was performed by volunteers, many of whom were the pioneers who originally conceived the AIS.  Since that time the Association has grown worldwide into a 1.6 million dollar multifaceted organization offering services and growth opportunities to IS academics through conferences, journals, job placement, communications, and networking to its 3600 members.
