Presidents Message - Bob Daniel

January 2012

I am excited to be serving as your president of HRMA NM for 2012. HRMA is a dynamic organization that has much to offer the HR profession and I am honored to be a steward of the organization this year.

Thank you to last year's Board of Directors and special recognition to those who served last year and have left the board: Theresa Padilla, Jason Blankenship, and Whitney Warner, all of whom made significant contributions to the organization. And special thanks to Denise Montoya, last year's president who led us though a great year in 2011!

I am pleased to offer to you the Board for 2012: Denise Montoya, Past President; Tammy Jaramillo, President-Elect; Sherri Bornhoft, VP Finance; Brandon Writtenberry, VP Finance-Elect; Cara Waymire, VP Administration; Barbara Marcus, VP Certification; Mary Romero-Hart, VP Diversity; Tracey Fria, VP Community Relations, Julie Fritsch, VP Government Affairs; Mike Brown, VP Communications; Jessica Edlinger, VP Student Affairs; Erica Moncayo, VP Membership; Jose Sanchez, VP Professional Development; and Shay Bierly, VP Public Relations. I'm proud to be associated with this dynamic group who will be working for you this year.

I started with thank yous and will end with thank yous. Thank you to all of you for being members of HRMA NM and entrusting this board with the responsibility to provide you with great value for the cost of your membership and your commitment of time to meet with us. We don't take this lightly and we are committed to making this a valuable resource for your professional career.

Meetings

We will continue to meet on the third Tuesday of each month this year. (Note that we will not have a meeting in March because of the State Conference, which we hope you all will attend.) We have moved back to the Sheraton Uptown for our regular monthly lunch meetings. Meetings will start at 11:30 and we have elected to go to a plated lunch to make better use of our time together. I hope you find the change to be a good one for you.

Our speaker this month is Albuquerque business coach, international speaker-trainer-facilitator, and personal development expert, Darren L. Johnson. Darren is the author of the book, Letting Go of Stuff®, a topic he has research since 1994. Darren has published articles on how to let go by identifying and overcoming barriers that prevent personal and professional growth. In addition to his presentation, he will have his book available for purchase and personally sign your copy.

Government Affairs - Julie Fritsch

As most of you know, the New Mexico legislature will be starting its 30-day session the week of January 16. We are committed to keeping you up to date on proposed bills that might impact all of us in the HR profession.
