Energy Savings Tips

1. Insulate your attic, floor, and/or walls to reduce escaping air.
2. Seal around doors & windows, plumbing & electrical openings, and place foam gaskets behind switch plates and electrical outlets on exterior walls.
3. Install a programmable thermostat or keep the temperature high!
4. Change filters in your furnace or heat pump every month or two. Have your furnace and/or heat pump cleaned and checked at the start of every heating or cooling season.
5. Use windows, fans, and dehumidifiers to make you feel more comfortable. They use less energy than window air conditioners.
6. Buy ENERGY STAR appliances.
7. Plant deciduous trees on the south and west sides of the house to help shade windows in the summer.
8. Replace windows and doors. While the energy savings are not drastic, the combined benefit of increased home value, slight energy savings, and current tax credits make this remodeling project worth your time and money.
