the Month
Remember in a hundred
years from now
it will not matter:
the type of car you drive or,
how big your house was or,
what you lived in or,
how much money you made.
It will matter if you positively influenced the lives of people!!!!

WIN A $50.00 GAS CARD FOR YOUR RESUME'
In conjunction with the Nebraska City Department of Labor Office, we are partnering for a Resume' Writing Competition.
The resumes will fall into one of 3 Categories: Professional, Manufacturing or General. We are excited about this opportunity to team up with the DOL to help get more Resumes registered on the DOL website. This not only provides individuals in our region an opportunity to find employment but it also provides our employers with a larger pool of qualified individuals from which to choose employees. Interested individuals must submit their resume' to the Department of Labor's website and a hard copy mailed to 917 Wildwood Lane, Ste. J, Nebraska City, NE 68410 for a chance to win a $50.00 gas card.
For more information: https://neworks.nebraska.gov and go to the events calendar.
Or call: 402 873-3384
Resumes will be reviewed by a team of 5 individuals comprised of human resource personnel from employers in the region. These individuals will be looking at resumes for neatness, clarity, descriptive job responsibilities, spelling and grammatical correctness. The resumes will also be judged as to the resume's ability to 'sell' the individual's skills.
Deadline for submitting 5 p.m. April 16th, 2012.

From the Director:
It's April in Nebraska and that means Arbor Day in Nebraska City. In case your calendar doesn't give you the date, it's the last weekend in April (27th - 29th) for Nebraska (this changes from state to state). However, on Saturday April 21st, the popular Arbor Day 5K & 10K Walk/Run will be held as well as the fund raiser for the Stone Cabin, which is located on the west end of Central Avenue.
To kick start the weekend on April 27th, the Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce hosts the ever so popular chili cook-off. There will be an unveiling of the new Nebraska City logo at a Tree Planting ceremony downtown Nebraska City on Friday, April 27th. Check out the full schedule of events at: NebraskaCity.com

LEGO ROBOTS: While you're in town be sure to check out our front window display at 1024 Central Avenue of the 2011 LEGO competition. This is an example of the challenge that students in the program faced last year. Deb Weisencamp, an Extension Educator from Pawnee and Johnson Counties is the coordinator for this program in Southeast Nebraska. We are excited about working with Deb to extend her program here in Otoe County. If you know a young student (Middle School age) who would be interested in her program let us know. Contact Deb at 402-852-2970 or [email protected] for more information.
