Dear Family and Friends,
Watch Out! Someone may sneak a prank on you. It's April Fool's Day! I'm sure our residents will have some goofy pranks in store. We are all on high alert today.
One thing that is not a prank is that it is SPRING! The weather has been outstanding and residents have been enjoying Sunshine Garden's patios, picnic areas, and gazebo. Our walking club members have been stepping their way through the neighborhood enjoying the sunshine and exercise. Way to go!
A special thanks goes to everyone who is a part of our Sunshine Gardens family or who visits or volunteers. We are an active, fun community and are so grateful that you are all a part of our lives and that's no April Fools!

Sailing Part II...Around Martha's Vineyard By: George Hayo, Sunshine Gardens Resident
Another couple, Barbara and Bill, and us, Nixie and I, embarked on an adventure.
We rented a 39 foot sailboat for a week. We sailed from the east end of Long Island where we started the cruise to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. On the way we stopped at Block Island.
The four of us could hardly wait for the delicious lobster dinner. We were given a new mainsail as the current one was pretty old. But we were to fly (use) the old mainsail. The second day out the wind was up to 40 knots (45 mph) and the boat flew over the waves. All of a sudden the mainsail ripped to pieces. We managed to pull the remains of the mainsail down. Now the boat was pitching in the waves. After some effort we got the new mainsail up. We were now cruising. We ate and slept on the boat except for dinner. We tied up at the end of a pier and then walked ashore to find a restaurant.
We went ashore and toured the Martha's Vineyard. We rented motor scooters and put the girls on the back. We drove up to and stopped at John Belushi's grave. It was a simple tombstone with lots of flowers around it. He was best known for the movie "Animal House." Also, we came to the bridge where Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne were in the accident that drowned her.
We got back on the boat and continued sailing around Nantucket. Regrettably, it was time to head back to Long Island. It was great fun. We all had a wonderful time!
