THE ECHO
is a 350-capacity room that has hosted cutting edge music since 2001. Once considered "too far east", The Echo has helped underscore Echo Park's importance as a neighborhood rich in Latin and Los Angeles culture and history. It's an area where hipsters and families coexist side by and side and is a home for musicians, artists, designers, and writers. Much like Echo Park, The Echo has made its mark by reflecting history, being eclectic and supporting the new. Artists that have performed at the Echo include: Beck, Art Brut, Ozomatli, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Band of Horses, The Breeders, CSS, The Little Ones, Cold War Kids, TV on The Radio, Rilo Kiley, Jamie Lidell, Diplo, Rancid, Silversun Pick Ups, Girl Talk and Vampire Weekend.

The Broken West
from Los Angeles, blend glorious pop with high-spirited rock & roll and accents of folk and country in a way that recalls early '70s LA. "[O]ld style AM pop with muscle and guts." The Onion, A/V Club. The group's debut album, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On, was recorded in bits and pieces over the course of a year, and after some legal wranglings (relating to their name), indie label Merge released the album in early 2007. A second Merge release, Now or Heaven, came out in 2008. Check myspace for music and more. |

The Whispertown 2000

THE WHISPERTOWN 2000 recently released "Swim," the first album put out on Gillian Welch and David Rawling's Acony Records -- who each appear along with Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley). Lead singer Morgan Nagler's "chameleonesque vocal persona . . . works its magic, and her inventive way with melodies" (www.BBC.co.uk) results in a distinctive, indie folk sound. The band's vibrant live shows have scored them opening slots with Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, Maria Taylor, She & Him, and Bright Eyes. Check website for music and more.
