THE ECHO
 92Y front door

is a 350-capacity room that has hosted cutting edge music since 2001.  Once considered "too far east", The Echo has helped underscore Echo Park's importance as a neighborhood rich in Latin and Los Angeles culture and history. It's an area where hipsters and families coexist side by and side and is a home for musicians, artists, designers, and writers.  Much like Echo Park, The Echo has made its mark by reflecting history, being eclectic and supporting the new. Artists that have performed at the Echo include: Beck, Art Brut, Ozomatli, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Band of Horses, The Breeders, CSS, The Little Ones, Cold War Kids, TV on The Radio, Rilo Kiley, Jamie Lidell, Diplo, Rancid, Silversun Pick Ups, Girl Talk and  Vampire Weekend.
Don't wait till New Years Eve at Spaceland or Sunday night at the Echo to see Henry Clay People and The Parsons Red Heads.  They will be playing Kidrockers this Sunday at 1PM at The Echo.  Greg Behrendt and Seth Herzog will host.

The Parson Red Heads

When The Parson Red Heads debut full length "King Giraffe" was released last year, they had already earned themselves a solid reputation in Los Angeles that was backed up by successful Monday night residencies at Silver Lake Lounge and The Echo - but since its release, their presence has extended past LA's city limits. The 60's loving quintet has been reviewed and featured in numerous publications and has had steady play on college radio (KG stayed in the CMJ top 200 for 9 weeks). They further solidified their reign over LA with a Monday night residency at Spaceland this January and a performance on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. They recently released a six song EP called Owl & Timber that highlights both their subtle and sweet acoustic tendencies as well as their consistent need for psyched out jams.

The Parson Red Heads will also play The Echo on Sunday night with Blitzen Trapper.  Check myspace for details and songs.

Stand up comic Greg Behrendt has been featured on HBO's Mantastic, last year's Uncool on Comedy Central, and on late night shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He recently taped a one hour special to air in the spring of 2009 called "Greg Behrendt THAT GUY FROM THAT THING."  While not by his admission a relationship expert, the former consultant for Sex And The City is also the co-author of HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU, soon to be a major motion picture, and IT'S CALLED A BREAKUP BECAUSE IT'S BROKEN.
