The Living Room
The Living Room
154 Ludlow Street The
is an intimate music venue where Norah Jones played before she was a sensation eventually outgrew its tiny original space. The Living Room's new digs include a comfy upstairs lounge and, back behind the brown velvet curtains, a bigger but still intimate music space that looks enormous to those who remember the crush of chairs, tables, and bodies at the old Living Room. Los Campesinos!
LOS CAMPESINOS! are a joyous, high energy seven person indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales. Their name roughly translates as "The Farmers" (or "The Peasants") in Spanish. Their recently released album "Hold On Now, Youngster . . . ." (Wichita/Arts & Crafts) contains addictive sing-alongs and is loaded "with hooks, crescendos, and clever turns of phrase nearly always in the right place." Pitchfork.
Los Campesinos! will be headlining The Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 15th and The Bowery Ballroom on May 19th. (for adults) |
Last year, Brooklyn-based PELA released its breakout album -- "Anytown Graffiti" (Great Society)-- which was named by KEXP's listeners as one of the Top 20 albums of the year. The band creates "pastoral, American punk," which has been described as "charming, humble, passionate, and achingly sad all at once." (Pop Matters). Known for their incredible live shows, including three straight sold out shows at Bowery Ballroom, PELA kicks off a three week tour with an appearance at Kidrockers. |
