Moments at the Mission: God works in wonderful ways
A few days ago, our chaplain received a request from a volunteer at the free clinic to come over to pray for a man currently meeting with a doctor. The man had a possible physical issue but also had some things going on with his marriage. He and his wife were presently separated but neither had taken the initiative to get a divorce, even though they had both been seeing other people since they separated.
The volunteer had asked if the man's wife would ever come to receive prayer with him, but the man wasn't sure that she would. However, while the man was meeting with the doctor, his wife arrived at the clinic. The man invited her to receive prayer with him, and she agreed.
Mission staff talked to the couple about making Christ the center of their lives and marriage. We asked if they would be willing to pray to commit themselves to Christ and ask that He would be the center of their marriage. They did so and asked. Staff lead the husband in a prayer asking Christ to teach him how to be a loving husband. His wife began to cry. Then staff lead her in a prayer asking God to make her the wife He desires her to become.
After they were done praying, the husband asked his wife for a hug. As they start hugging each other, she burst into tears and cried, "Please forgive me!" Her husband started crying. The moment was truly holy, as staff witnessed first-hand Christ working to bring reconciliation in answer to prayer.
We never know what surprises God will send us when we are willing to be an instrument in His hands and to share Him with others.
