Citywide Recycling Day is April 28
Please help us spread the word about our City Wide Recycling Day on April 28th.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can bring unwanted clothing and accessories to any Russ’s Market or Super Saver location and donate them as part of our Citywide Recycling Day. Wearable clothing will be offered to guests staying at the Mission, as well as distributed to the impoverished in our community at the Homeless Prevention Center. Anything that is unwearable will be recycled.
For information about the City Wide Recycling Day, please contact Amy Cink at acink@peoplescitymission.org or get in touch with our Homeless Prevention Center located at 21st & N St by phone at (402) 475-6888 or web at www.peoplescitymission.org.

The People's City Mission's Annual Banquet was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped us celebrate the many wonderful things that have happened at the Mission over the past year. Keep an eye on our blog to see photos of the event!
1011 Reports: Students Skip School to Serve Community
The senior class at Norris High School turned their Senior Skip Day into Senior Serve Day. More than 120 students came to the Mission on April 17 to donate their time and serve our guests. The seniors wanted to set a good example for their fellow students by choosing to do something positive for others in place of a more me-centered tradition.
We were thrilled to have these students come and serve at the Mission. Thank you for being so generous with your time!

Meet Matthew
Wars impact each of our lives in some way, but none feel it more than those who fight them. The soldiers who leave our families to serve return as changed individuals, and their lives moving forward are often drastically different as well.
Matthew is one such soldier. He joined the Army National Guard when he was just 17, and was later deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Overseas, he spent most of his time teaching operational tactics to foreign police forces and running security operations. His experiences are mostly positive, but he still remembers the fear he felt when being shot at and the pain of losing a close friend in action.

"I am so grateful to these people [at the Mission]. Without their help, without them being here, I don't know where I would have gone."
