1011 Reports: 3rd Grade Students Give to PCM

> It's been said "reading is fundamental," but for some Christ Lutheran School students, the fundamental goal is giving.

Cindy Johnson's third grade class, armed with 94 brand new books, donated them to the People's City Mission. "They don't really have much so people are giving to them so they can read," said Emma Smith, a third grade student.

Meet Michele

Michele Orth built her career doing marketing for elderly care and fitness facilities, but now she’s spending her time organizing and encouraging volunteers at the People’s City Mission. Hundreds of people volunteer at the Mission on a regular basis—our operations wouldn’t be possible without their help. All those people have been keeping Michele busy, and she’s learning quickly.

“I didn’t realize how much is happening on one campus,” Michele said. “I’ll never forget when I realized, this is like my hometown. Almost every day we have 360 guests here. Add about 50 staff and all that’s happening at the clinic and downtown . . . we’ve surpassed the number of people in my community!”
