Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from all of us at the Mission! We hope you and your loved ones had a safe and blessed holiday. As you begin this year with new resolutions and a fresh perspective, please keep our guests in your thoughts and prayers.
You might also consider becoming a volunteer at the Mission this year--there are dozens of opportunities. Our three shelters offer short and long-term housing to almost 350 people every night. Our Distribution Center helps
prevent homelessness from occurring by providing needed food, clothing and other key
household items. Our free Medical Clinic provides medical care for people who have no
health insurance. Much of this work is done by volunteers. Why don’t you become one of
them this year?
Thank you for your support. May your New Year be blessed!

When most of us think of supporting the Mission, we think about making a financial contribution or donating clothing or food. These are wonderful ways to aid the homeless of Lincoln, but is there more we can do?

People’s City Mission holds memorial service for those who died while homeless
The People's City Mission gathered on Wednesday, December 21st from 7pm to 7:30pm in front of the Mission's free Medical Clinic to pay respects to 11 homeless men who died over the past year. This list includes individuals who died while living on the street or in an emergency shelter, as well as those who died while living in transitional or permanent housing who were formerly homeless.
The memorials took place all over the country. From Wasilla, Alaska, to Cheyenne, Wyo., and 148 cities in between. At the Lost Sheep Ministry in Knoxville, Tenn., and at Project HOPE in Camden, N.J., and outside the People's City Mission in Lincoln. The date is intentional. Dec. 21 -- the longest night of the year to remember those who died, mostly forgotten, on the streets of America in the last year.
The event underscores the urgent crisis faced by thousands of men, women and children who experience an episode of homelessness in Lancaster County each year, including over 2000 who have stayed at the People’s City Mission.
The event is held in conjunction with National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day.

"The Mission [Distribution Center] really helped me and my family with household items and clothing when we had no money to provide for ourselves. Thank you for caring about us and the people that you help and pray for."
