Mojo's Legacy takes the Mission to Boo at the Zoo
Kids at the People’s City Mission had a fantastically spooky good time this Halloween thanks to Tony and Rhonda Lucero, who arranged to have a limousine bus pick up children from the Mission and take them to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo’s “Boo at the Zoo” event on October 27th. The Luceros are the founders of Mojo’s Legacy, a foundation that strives to provide less fortunate children with memorable life experiences.
“We look for organizations that have kids and families that don’t get to do something they’re really excited about,” said Tony. Once an organization is identified, Mojo’s Legacy goes into action and designs an exciting experience for the kids and families.
“We as a family came up with the idea,” said Tony. “Let’s form a foundation that creates something really special for kids.” They chose Tony’s old stage name (he’s a former professional hypnotist) to brand the foundation, and the Luceros, along with their three children, reached out to local organizations to get started. The Mission was lucky enough to experience the foundation’s first event.
Mojo’s Legacy focuses on making memories for children, but there’s a something bigger going on as well. “We wanted to create awareness,” said Tony. The Lucero’s hope to spark a community-wide philanthropic movement. “We want other people or companies to say ‘hey, we should do something like that.”
To Mojo’s Legacy, from all of us at the Mission (and especially our kids!): thank you for a memorable Halloween!

Meet Kyle
Kyle Winchell worked for People’s City Mission for three years before leaving last December to work for Kenexa. When he was asked to return and manage the Mission’s Family Shelter, he jumped at the chance.
“I had been wanting to manage and to go back to the Mission was an amazing opportunity,” Kyle said. “There is no place like this. It is challenging, rewarding, and the people that work and serve here are amazing.”
Since returning, Kyle has been plenty busy making sure things run smoothly around the Mission. A typical day at the Family Shelter is full of problem solving, prayer, crises intervention, planning and meeting with guests to steer them onward in the right direction. It is intense and full of difficult situations, but when you look back at it, so rewarding!”
Nothing beats the feeling of knowing what you do every day makes a difference in someone’s life. Kyle says the best part of his job is getting to encourage others, and watching so many of the guests make great strides forward in their lives.
“I grow every day and our guests teach me so much,” he said. “Seeing peoples’ lives be changed, healed, seeing God move in incredible ways. [The Mission] is a special place,” he said. “It is full of life, hope and help. It’s an incredible place in our city where so many great things happen.”
When Kyle isn’t busy at the Mission, he enjoys fishing with his grandfather, as well as hunting and golfing.

Would you like to lead worship?
We are looking for teams or individuals who are interested in leading a musical worship night at the Mission for one hour on Wednesday evenings. Musicians/singers should be able to commit to leading once a month (or more, if you would like!) beginning in late November or December. We're not looking for preachers, just someone who can play worship music, lead in prayer if you would like, and provide a quiet place for people to come pray, be prayed for, read or just sit and worship God.
If you are interested, please contact Kyle Winchell via email or call 402-475-1303.

Fright Hunger Food Drive a record-setting success!
After a month of collections, we are thrilled to announce that our annual Halloween food drive was a huge success! The total amount of food collected was over 34,000 lbs. This amazing total is a new record and equals what we collected in the last two years combined. We greatly appreciate your effort to help the Mission to feed the homeless of Lincoln in the coming year!
The Fright Hunger Food Drive came to an end with the Fright Hunger Food Bash at the Lancaster Event Center, where the kids that participated in the collection were treated to an evening of free food and drinks, inflatables and music provided by the Academy of Rock bands.
The Waverly Vikings are the Fright Hunger Food Drive Champions for the second
year in a row, winning this year's challenge with 13,246 pounds of food collected. They will receive passes to Champion’s Fun
Center, a pizza party from daVinci’s, a free movie from Marcus Theaters, and a feature role in a commercial airing on Time Warner Cable.
Thank you for another hugely successful Halloween food drive!
