Meet Becky Painter
Becky came to join our Family Shelter Staff about a year ago. She has been married for 34 years and has a son, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter that she adores. Becky has been an Interior Designer for many years and loves it but was starting to feel like she wanted to try something new as well.
Becky has spent her adult life mentoring young people. She calls it "Treasure Hunting", when you get to know people, learn about them and listen to the clues God gives you to find the treasure deep within them. Then she has the honor of encouraging and building them up to be able to see that treasure within themselves, but even more so to step out and walk in the full potential of that treasure.
Becky also has a passion for helping to walk others through "the hard times" in life. She's been honored to be part of nine different births and two deaths and feels that those have been some of the greatest privileges in her life. Becky told me, "I love the mission because it's hard here, and I like the hard places." She says she "loves to love like Jesus loves, but you have to be in a place to do that."
"Here you learn who you are and who you aren't and who you want to be. It's like a training ground"
Becky has been a wonderful blessing not only to our guests but also to our staff. Her joy and faith is a source of constant encouragement amidst the day to day. Thank you Becky for everything that you do, but most of all, for who you are!
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. - Psalms 62:5-8
