Meet the Staff & Volunteers of PCM

Rick Ragsdale

Rick Ragsdale
Rick has been with PCM for over five years now, let me tell you his story. Rick grew up in Iowa and saw his older brother fall into alcoholism and addiction. This was as difficult for him as it would be for any young boy, but then one day he saw his brothers life dramatically changed. You see his brother had come to know the Lord as his savior and was immediately set free from his addictions. Rick could see the peace in his brothers life and wanted it for himself as well, so at the age of 17 he gave his heart to the Lord and has been actively serving in the ministry since then.

A little over 5 years ago Rick and his family moved to Lincoln from Iowa and Rick started working here at PCM, he is now the Director of Men's Programs. Rick says "it is an honor to advocate for the homeless" and that this has been an awesome experience, it's the most rewarding ministry he's ever been involved in. Rick says he enjoys seeing people experience God move in their life, hurting people be healed and set free and seeing lives changed.

The work we do here at People's City Mission is so much more then just work. We get to see people open their hearts and lives to the power of Jesus Christ and then see the change that He brings. Rick is right, it truly is an honor.

Meet Our Guests

Kevin Porter

Kevin Porter Kevin came to PCM a few years ago after struggling with addictions and relapses. While here in our Men's Shelter Kevin was able to become sober, found local employment and he moved into our Curtis Center transitional housing program. Kevin was also able to enroll in our Veteran's program.

The Curtis Center is a two year program that was started in 2008, Kevin is one of our first graduates!

Kevin said that while he was with us all of his needs were met, even down to a sack lunch to take to work and shoe laces for his boots. He was able to be mentored in financial responsibility and spiritual accountability. He was even able to establish some savings so that now he has opened his own "Sober Living" house here in town, to reach out to people going through the same struggles he experienced and was able to overcome.

Kevin said he is grateful to Pastor Tom, Jerry, Edie, Rick, Dave, Jeff and all the staff for their help and support. He says, "If a person is willing they can come here and receive services and reconnect their relationship with God and regain their faith to stand firm in God's word."

Fright Hunger 2010

The Fright Hunger Food Drive allows teenagers in the Lincoln area to help People's City Mission feed 300 men and women a day. Currently we are facing a 10 ton shortage in food supplies for the year.

Register your team of 20 or fewer here and start collecting food. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the most food donated overall and to the school with the most food collected.

For more information about Fright Hunger Food Drive check out the event page on Facebook here, and "like" us to get updates about event and the mission.
