Meet the Staff & Volunteers of PCM:
Concordia College Students
As many of you know we have a large number of children that live here at the People's City Mission. While food and a safe place to sleep is good for adults, children need something more. That is why we are so blessed to have the partnership of Concordia College.
Students enrolled in Concordia's Teaching Diverse Learners course instructed by Amanda Geidel, are volunteering their time this fall to pour into the lives of our children. Approximately seven to eight students come Monday through Thursday to tutor our children in our Homework Club or fascilitate our Club EDEFY. In Club EDEFY our kids are given the opportunity to play games, go on field trips, sing songs and learn about the love of Jesus Christ.
Without volunteers like these we would not be able to provide these life changing programs for our children. Thank you to Amanda Geidel and the students of Concordia College for all they are doing here at PCM, we are truly blessed! |

Raising Cane's Coat Drive | RAISING COATS WITH RAISING CANE'S
OCTOBER 1ST-NOVEMBER 7TH Chicken Finger Franchise and People's City Mission partner to bring coats to the needy.
LINCOLN, NE, September 28, 2010 -Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is partnering with the People's City Mission for their 4th Annual Raising Coats with Raising Cane's coat drive. Since its creation in 2007, restaurant owner and operators Justin and Jennifer Jones have been able to donate over 2600 new and gently used coats to the People's City Mission. With the help of the community, they are hoping to raise over 2,000 coats to give back this year in 2010. "We are so grateful to the community for supporting us in all the endeavors that we have taken on in the past and we are hoping everyone will once again support us in raising coats to give back to those most in need " says the Jones's, who moved to Lincoln in 2006 to open the Raising Cane's location. "Being an active community partner and leader is a key part of the Raising Cane's vision so teaming up with the People's City Mission has been a great way to show our commitment to the community of Lincoln," the Jones's added. Residents are asked to bring any new or gently used coat to Raising Cane's on the corner of 48th and R Street October 1st-November 7th. In return for their donation, they will receive a buy one combo meal, get the second absolutely free offer. The coats raised during the coat drive will be distributed to the People's City Mission shelter residents and will also be available to others in need throughout the community at the People's City Mission Distribution Center on a date to be determined.
