True Story from the Curtis Center
"Jim" came to us when we first opened the doors of the Curtis Center. He had moved from state to state and had an addiction to pot and alcohol. He was estranged from his family and had not seen them in eight years. Jim decided that he would go back to school. We applied for a pell grant which he received and he decided to major in business accounting at SCC. He finished the first quarter with a 3.9 average. He was thinking of moving back to Wisconsin with his sister but has decided to stay in Lincoln to pursue his education and volunteer at the mission.
Jim is completely off of drugs & alcohol and wants to give back by volunteering at the Mission.
