Christmas is for the Homeless, Too.
This year you can help us feed and house our guests here at the Mission. Click here to go to the "Christmas is for the Homeless, Too" page on our website, or click on the manger illustration on our home page. You can listen to Pastor Tom talking about this opportunity here.
Gifts donated to the Mission around Christmas are organized into a store
for parents to shop for themselves and their children. Parents with
children living outside the Mission are allowed to pick out and mail
their gifts. This format allows for parents to take part in what
their children open on Christmas morning! Volunteers will help guests in gift
selection and wrapping.
We will also be giving away 500-600 turkeys to families around Lincoln so that they can have a good holiday meal.
On Christmas Day, we will serve around 1,000 meals of cooked ham, turkey, sweet potatoes, corn and lots more goodies so that our guests can enjoy a nice Christmas meal with their family and friends here at PCM.

1,433 Winter Coats for Lincoln's Homeless from the 3rd Annual Raising Coats with Raising Cane's
Raising
Cane's Chicken Fingers partnered with People's City Mission to raise new or
gently used coats for their shelter residents and others in need throughout the
community of Lincoln. Individuals who
donated coats were given a buy one combo meal, get the second free
offer in return for their donations; which resulted in over $10,000 worth of
food given away. Raising Cane's raised 1,433 coats that were distributed to PCM shelter residents and others in need throughout the
community per the Mission's Distribution Center.
"We
again are so grateful to the community for supporting us in all the community endeavors
that we support and especially want to thank those who donated a coat to
someone in need this winter " said
Justin & Jennifer Jones, owners of the Raising Cane's Lincoln franchise.
Here at the Mission, we are so thankful for the efforts of the Jones's and their store. All of the coats were distributed in just two days, proving the great need for winter-wear this season in Lincoln.

Mission Stories: Hugs & Wet Kisses
The other night while leaving right before our kids' bedtime I had a mother encouraging a little tyke who I have grown very fond of, but who started out not interested in me at all, to blow me a good night kiss. Then she encouraged him to give me a kiss and he did. Now the older sister, a very precocious 4 year old (who's sassiness has leveled out over the few weeks) seemed to feel like she was missing out on the love and yelled for me to come let her give a kiss to. So I walked back in and as I bent over she gave me a great big cow kiss to which I screamed with delight and the waiting area burst with laughter. As I got into the car, I was reminded of where love grows. It grows right there in that interchange, where kids who generally have the purest of hearts have been hardened by life but finally succumb to the love they are shown and give gigantic rewards of hugs and kisses..even wet ones...

Needs at the Mission
The needs are great at the Mission this season. In addition to financial gifts, we desperately need hats, gloves, mittens, shoes and coats...we specifically need five 5x winter coats. Can you help out?

Thanksgiving Meal @ the Mission
This year, because of the generosity of our donors and volunteers (you!), we were able to give away almost 600 turkeys and serve 4,000 meals on Thanksgiving.

Volunteers waited on our guests at a formal dinner to celebrate a day to be thankful. Thank you!
