The Magic of Exceptional Service, Leadership & Teamwork By Doug Lipp, former Head Trainer for Disney There are no "magic bullets" for leadership and service excellence, yet the most successful organizations have leaders and employees who create and sustain environments of creativity, consistency, and sustainable excellence. This presentation takes an interactive approach to examining the traits and approaches of outstanding leaders and teams and includes quick exercises to help participants assess their strengths and areas for improvement. The vast majority of continually successful organizations are those where the prevailing attitude of all employees is constant growth, from the executive level to the front lines. As soon as arrogance or indifference sets in, at any level, productivity and service suffers. Doug's experience at the Walt Disney Company and as a consultant for world-class organizations has given himinvaluable first-hand experience with teams that have survived many challenges. It all starts at the top, and Doug's goal for you during this presentation is to help you find and reinforce the "Magic" in your organization. Here's a hint: it's all about balancing art and science! Company Values: What values do embrace in your organization? How do you bring these to life, every day, while maintaining your focus on customers, vendors and staff members? The Buck Stops With You: Leadership is Service. The relationship between leadership, team productivity and outstanding service. Change or Perish: Resting on one's laurels is not an option. Exploring the leader's and staff member's role in creating and maintaining a highly creative and energized team. Supervisors and Managers, are you able to motivate all of your staff, and not just those in your own cultural or age group? Life on the Highwire: Explore the weaknesses of many teams: Lack of balance. All "hardware" and no "software." No succession plans. How's your balance? How do you plan to sustain it? Do Something: Clarity of Purpose: Vision and Mission. Attendees self-assess the culture of their own team and work environment. Is there a predominant culture or style? Perfect Planning (risk and decision-averse leadership), Imperfect Action (creating new opportunities instead of stagnating), or something in-between? The Globe is Shrinking, is Your Mind Expanding? Business ventures and the teams that drive them are now constantly involved in projects that include the words: International, global and multicultural. Learn how some of the world's most effective teams have leveraged diversity of language, culture & values to accomplish their goals. Attendees will be asked to assess the "global effectiveness" of their team/restaurant within the overall Company culture. Doug will accomplish these objectives by combining experiential exercises, participant-centered activities and some eye-opening "behind the scenes" stories from his career at Disney.
