LOVE IN ACTION
Ever wonder what love in action looks like?
Here at PCM we see it quite often, and it can look like this:
A former Emergency Medical Technician lives in our family shelter. She has been debilitated by Multiple Sclerosis and Epileptic Seizures. Concerned about the increased falls, getting lost inside the building and other issues associated with her condition, the paramedics were called to assess her. It was bittersweet to hear this once vibrant caregiver answer the questions that she not long ago asked of people in similar situations. Here comes the love in action... some of our other guests rallied around her and did some things so that her stay here was safer and more comfortable. They put little white circles on door frames to help her find her way around; her roommates help her shower and change her linens; others apply ice packs and speak softly to her when she gets discouraged after a seizure or fall that has become commonplace. She will be leaving soon and placed somewhere safer with round-the-clock care. She will be missed, as will the displays of love that bubbled up out of staff and guests when she fell and needed a hand getting up.
This would not be possible without the prayers, donations, and volunteer hours from our community.
