...the third time He said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you  know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep."

"Do not get drunk with wine, but be filled with the Holy Spirit."  Ephesians 5:8

Here is an interesting illustration from D. L. Moody. Once, while speaking to a large audience, he held up a glass and asked, "How can I get the air out of this glass?" One man shouted, "Suck it out with a pump!" Moody replied, "That would create a vacuum and shatter the glass." Another person yelled, "It can't be done." Moody responded, "Yes it can be done, but tell me how?" After more unsuccessful attempts were made by the crowd to solve the problem, Moody finally picked up a pitcher of water, laughed, and filled the glass. "There," he said, "all the air is now removed." He went on to explain that victory in Christ can never be achieved by "sucking out a sin here and there," but rather by being filled with the Holy Spirit.

This is the point Paul is trying to make in the above passage. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is God's answer to many of our questions and issues because it changes everything. When Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, her fellowship became prophetic (Luke 1: 41-43). When the first disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, their worship became evangelical (Acts 2:1-42). When Paul was filled with the Holy Spirit, his opposition was silenced by miraculous power (Acts 13:9-12). The Bible records numerous examples of people who achieved victory and overcame great obstacles by experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit. Many of us attempt to "make it" through the problems and issues we face in life on our own steam. We try to suck air out of the glass, and aren't having much success at it. What we really need to do is fill our lives with God's presence. We need a powerful rush of spiritual reality and anointing that will take us to a different point of reference. What we need is a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit!

Welcome Katie!
 Lydia
Currently I am a Graphic Design major at the University of Concordia at Seward, Nebraska. In praying and asking my Father what He would have me do this summer He directed me here.  I am a Resident Missionary which will involve varied responsibilities.  I will be working with guests and staff in the Family Shelter and with youth in Club E.D.E.F.Y. at first.  Most of my time thus far has been spent shadowing the staff and learning my way around.  I am very excited about joining the staff and volunteers in being the hands and feet of Jesus.

I welcome any prayers for my time here and for the Lord to direct my steps as I minister to the impoverished being served here at the Mission.  Please also pray for the staff and other volunteers

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galations 5:1
