All-Makes
Office Equip. Company $25,000 Office
Makeover...
Running a nonprofit can be difficult when there isn't enough funding for an effective work environment. Since nonprofits must focus their resources on fulfilling their mission, they can sometimes miss an opportunity to utilize their work environment as a tool for attracting and soliciting funds for their cause. To give back to the community, All Makes Office Equipment Co. of Lincoln is offering a $25,000 Nonprofit Office Makeover to one nonprofit in the Lincoln Area.
If you would like to nominate The Mission to receive an office makeover, nominate PCM or vote for the Mission, visit:
www.allmakes.com/makeover08/Daily voting open November 3 - December 1, until 5 pm. Voters are limited to one vote per 24 hour period. The results of the public vote will be combined with scores from a panel of local judges to determine the winner. Five finalists will be selected. The second round of voting will take place from January 5 - February 2, until 5 pm (CST). |

Greetings!

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - 2 Chr. 7:14 Paul Harvey told about a 4-year-old boy who went to the grocery store with his mother. On this trip she had decided the family needed to eat healthier. So, before they entered the grocery store she told the young man, "We are not going to buy any chocolate chip cookies today, so don't ask." She put him up in the cart, and he sat in the little child's seat while she wheeled down the aisles. He was doing just fine until they came to the cookie section. Upon seeing the chocolate chip cookies he felt compelled to stand up in his seat and ask, "Mom, can you please buy some chocolate chip cookies?" She replied, "I told you not to ask me for cookies. We are not going to buy any cookies today." So he quietly sat back down. They continued down the aisles in their search for certain items. The little boy again felt a strong compulsion arising from within, so he stood up and asked, "Mom, please, please, can you buy some chocolate chip cookies?" Now upset, she gave him one of those looks that only a mother can give, and in a stern voice said, "I told you NO. We are not going to buy any chocolate chip cookies. Now sit down and be quiet." Finally, they approached the checkout lane. The little boy sensed that he was at his last chance to nab some cookies. So he stood up on the seat of the cart and in his loudest voice shouted, "In the name of Jesus, may I have some chocolate chip cookies?" Everyone around them began laughing, and some even applauded. According to Paul Harvey, due to the generosity of the other shoppers, the little boy and his mother left the store with 23 boxes of chocolate chip cookies.... This is a great illustration of what someone can do with enough conviction and dogged perseverance. And it is worth remembering as we approach the upcoming presidential election. No matter who wins its, God is still in control. Our duty is to stand for what is right and lift up this nation to God on a regular basis. If we do, He will answer us and bless our efforts. Prayer can make a real difference when we approach it with the same tenacity as little boys and their chocolate chip cookies. Food for thought!

Halloween Food Drive Collects Food For Free Thanksgiving Meals
This past Friday, on October 31st, PCM held it's annual food drive for area youth. Youth groups from across Lincoln canvassed the city for food that will provide the needy with a free Thanksgiving meal. The night concluded at the Lancaster Event Center with a concert by VOTA band, formerly Casting Pearls, pizza, and games. Thank you to all of the groups who participated and also to Todd Schmeeckle for coordinating the event.
Today and tomorrow, families will be signing up at the Distribution Center to receive a free Thanksgiving basket the last week of November. This basket includes a free turkey and the dressings. Last year, we provided over 600 families in Lincoln with a free Thanksgiving basket and we hope to exceed 1000 food baskets this year! If you would to help with this effort, please drop off the following items at our Distribution Center on 21st and N Street.

Thurs., Nov. 6 at 7pm Mon., Nov. 17 at 4pm Wed., Dec. 10 at 7pm We will explain what types of jobs are available, when we will be open, who we will serve, and where you will work.
