Greetings!
Last week I had the opportunity to attend Bill Hybels' Leadership Summit. I love this conference and have attended three times! Bill Hybels and nine other speakers presented sessions that we viewed by telecast at Brookside Church in Omaha. Each of us in the audience was affirmed, inspired, challenged and touched ... over and over again... by the messages of the speakers. Yes! I took notes, bought books and even ordered the video of the conference to share with my friends. Now I am excited to hear Bill Hybels, live in Lincoln on September 12 at the Gallup-PCM Leadership Conference at Pershing Auditorium.
Hybels' message is for all Christians throughout the world ... " lead where you are." Lead others to Christ.
Bill Hybels focuses on the local church, the body of believers - your church and mine, which he states is "the hope of the world." Hybels, as pastor of a church, spends significant portions of each day in meetings. But it is his ministry to individuals, often in times of crisis, that satisfies his soul. For in these heart-to-heart and soul-to-soul encounters he feels God's presence. He says, "this is church!" This is what the Christian community is all about.
Yes, you lead right here in Lincoln. Believers from all over Lincoln share Christ's love by addressing the needs of the homeless in our city. We pray that our heart-to-heart and soul-to-soul encounters will assuage the pain of life's troubles and bring each of our guests to feel the healing love and grace of our Lord. Lead where you are. Lead others to Christ.
I can't tell you how excited I am to have Bill Hybels coming to Lincoln to speak at our Leadership Conference. This is a wonderful opportunity for each of us.

Happy Birthday Jacob !
Jacob turned 12 today! He celebrated his birthday in a special way. He had a big party but no one brought him gifts. Instead, each friend brought food for People's City Mission. This is the fourth year that Jacob has shared his birthday with our mission.

Thank you Jacob.

Yesterday they sang one of my favorite hymns in church, Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven. I love this hymn because it contains the phrase "slow to chide and swift to bless." As I live my life, I want to be swift to share Christ's love with others.
I'm sure you have a song or a hymn that inspires you. Think of it this week as you go about living in God's grace and love.
