Location: Studio 2 at Dance Victoria, Quadra St (this is the large Studio upstairs at the back; not the same Studio we use for class) Current MoonDance students (including waitlist!) $20 or $35 for June & July pre-paid.
For the public: $25 each or $45 for June & July We complete an entire (short) choreography during each workshop!

Syzygy: The Moon's Dance
Saturday June 9th 3:00pmDance Victoria, Studio 1
Performers:
- add your name to the dances you wish to be in - pay your $5 commitment fee* to Lynn or Nikko - arrive at 2pm on June 9th - adults: wear a sarong or wrap (with shorts or leggings under) and a solid-coloured top - children: as per Nikko's instructions
*Please note: the Commitment Fee is not meant to be prohibitive. Everyone is most welcome to perform! If the fee is a barrier for you, please speak with Lynn or Nikko to have the fee waived. This fee helps offset the costs of producing the show, and allow us to keep it free to the public. It helps ensure that we know who to expect at showtime! Thank you for your commitment. Audience: - arrive at 2:45pm - no fee; donations to Matoto accepted

Workshops & Lessons with Manimou Camara
Sunday June 9th, 2012

Join Manimou at the Art House for a fun afternoon of classes. Manimou is an excellent instructor - a true educator, with a genuine desire to share his knowledge, skill, and culture. A generous leader, who makes learning fun & accessible.
Private lessons
(djembe, douns, or dance)
are available between 11:00am - 1:30pm ($25/hr).
DRUM WORKSHOP 1:30 - 3:00pm
DANCE WORKSHOP 3:00 - 4:30pm
$15 each or $25 for both
Manimou's background includes study with Sekou Dico Sylla , Karamoko Daman, and the nationally recognized Ballet Saamato. He has played lead dunduns for Kemoko Sano's world renowned Ballet Merveille and conducted rhythm and dance camps for people from Europe, Japan,
and the United States.
Manimou now resides in the Seattle metropolitan area where he shares his passion for rhythms and life. More about Manimou at dounaidjembe.com

Matoto Multicultural Arts Society

MoonDance's sister non-profit, Matoto, is hosting a Coffee Night social....
Join the Matoto Multicultural Arts Society for an evening of presentations and discussion about human rights and decolonization in the local indigenous and global context. Featuring Moussa Mougassa (Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding expert), Lynn Weaver (founding ED of Matoto) and Robert Spade (First Nations activist). Suggested donation $2-$5. All proceeds go towards honorariums for the guest speakers (i.e. not Lynn ; ) and to Matoto Multicultural Arts Society for the continued financial support of the primary school in Kubian, Guinea, West Africa.

Brad Prevedoros is renowned for his instrumental virtuosity, exuberant live performances, original compositions and innovative interpretation of works by other composers. His repertoire of multi-genre music engages his audience through a mix of Jazz, Latin, Pop, Classical, Celtic, and Folk. Brad has performed on live television and radio, his music can be heard regularly on CBC national and regional radio. It can also be heard on college and co-op radio stations throughout the world. His original compositions have been used in television, theatre and commercial video productions. Having toured across Canada, the United States, and Europe he has won audience approval appealing to all ages. The centerpiece of Brad's music rests with his varied and beautiful acoustic guitar sounds.
