Monthly Challenge
|
So how did the 7-day Meditation Challenge go? Interested in sharing your thoughts/insights? Go to MoonDance's Facebook page and click on Discussions to see/contribute to a thread for each month's challenge.
September Challenge: 10-Day Green Smoothie Challenge
MMMmmmm.... Stock up on fresh local fruit at this harvest time of year. Green smoothie? Add a greens powder (Vega has good vegan products, and is a local Van Isle company), or liquid chlorophyll or similar. Best option: add a handful of your favourite fresh greens: tender is better in this case (kale is my fav, but makes for a chunkie rather than a smoothie!). Good choices are spinach and parsley. Go easy on high-flavour greens (like cilantro) unless you love the flavour.
My Favourite Green Smoothie
-1 banana -4 strawberries -handful of raspberries or blackberries or whatever yummy gifts from Nature! -juice (any kind) -rice milk or almond milk to desired consistency -tbl spoon of flax seed oil and/or hemp seed oil (you won't even notice ; ) -handful of spinach or other greens -vega or other greens/protein powder (optional)
Blend. Enjoy.

"Welcome" to MoonDance's newest instructors
|
The Art House is pleased to offer classes with two creative, dynamic new instructors:
Sunny Thiara Sunny has been dancing Bhangra from childhood, and during her
university years, she was part of a Bhangra Dance Team in Victoria,
performing at
international festivals and Indo-Canadian events and concerts. She also
enjoys dancing to pop music, and has learned dance from other cultures
as well. Chris O'Connor Chris has recently moved to Vancouver Island. He has an MFA in
Interdisciplinary Arts from Simon Fraser University. While primarily
focusing on
dance and creative movement, Chris also incorporates sound, installation
and theatre within his overall artistic practice. He has danced in
companies
in various cities throughout North America spanning a range of styles -
from highly physical dance on scaffolding to an intergenerational dance
company where the oldest member was 90 years old. He has danced in
alleyways, living rooms, on and under bridges, in prisons, in old age
homes,
and most places in between. For the last few years Chris has been an
arts educator at the Vancouver Art Gallery, led and organized Soundwalks
for
Vancouver New Music and taught creative movement in elementary and
secondary schools throughout the lower mainland with Learning Through
the Arts.

| Food For Thought |
- Jenny Harris
Strength is the inner power to withstand whatever comes. It is our capacity to endure in the midst of tests. We grow in strength as we tackle life's challenges with courage and determination. We deepen in strength when we choose gentleness and practice patience. We stay strong when we recognise that suffering is a thread woven through the design of our lives, not to make us unhappy, but to transform us with grace. Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved. - Helen Keller
In your day, invite these thoughts:
I have the power to endure my tests. I willingly face the challenges of my life. I have the courage to persevere. I cultivate gentleness and patience. I trust the value of transformative opportunities.
I am thankful for the gift of Strength. It empowers my soul.
