Circle Dance
A dear friend gave us this sculpture for MoonDance's tenth anniversary. I love it ~ it captures so much of the sense of Community, Unity, wholeness, and also the tension inherent in coming together. Without that tension, the circle would collapse. No one said it had to be easy, but the beauty and connection that evolves is well worth it!
We dance...
for joy, growth,
awareness and healing.
for peace,
with
presence and consciousness
as if the whole world
matters,
because it does.
We celebrate
Life.
We dance as One.

Lynn

| Ten Days for $10,000! |
MoonDance's partner non-profit, Matoto Multicultural Arts Society is raising $10,000 in 10 days to finish the school in Kubian.
What a great example of the power of Unity: each donor gives only $10. Peanuts! And yet in 10 days....
Click this link to watch a brief slide show about the project, and here for a video:

It is with a full heart that I wish to acknowledge all the support from the MoonDance Community. Many of the drummers and dancers that came to Guinea did major fundraising for the School before Matoto was formed. All of Matoto's founding Board Members are "MoonDancers" (though we're always happy to add new energy ; ) and lots of wonderful folks gave their time & money. What a Circle! THANK YOU!

This is what a Feminist looks like...
|
|
Redefining Feminism
A Feminist is someone who believes that all people deserve equal opportunity.
Feminism is not "men bashing". It focuses on the more-discriminated gender until the scales balance out.
It is not "bra burning", in fact pyrotechnics have very little to do with Feminism.
It is not Burkinstocks or Indigo Girls, though both have merits in their own right ; )
It is about equality. Men and women, younger, elder, "mainstream" or "alternative", anyone who believes in equal opportunity IS a feminist!
So what does equality look like? It is not meant to suggest that men and women are the SAME. Au contraire! Like apples and oranges - no wait - more like apples and bananas ; ) there are distinct differences, and these can be honoured and celebrated. Women needn't be successful in "a man's world" in order to claim success. It can be a new (ancient) way ~ through conscientious parenting; through community-building business practices, through connection.
Through Feminism we are connected to every Woman on the planet. Feminism is a form of deep gratitude for our fore-Mothers and for Mother Earth.

The Practice of ZEAL
"Experience shows that success is due less to ability than to zeal. The winner is [s]he who gives [her]self to [her] work body and soul."
- Charles Buxton
Zeal is passion for a purpose we deeply value. We follow a vision of what is possible with enthusiasm and ardor. We need tolerance as the ballast for our zeal when others' beliefs differ from our own. Zeal is being for something, not against anything. Zeal is the fire in our belly. It illumines even the smallest task.
I have a deep sense of purpose. I am passionate about what I value. I give all I have. I persevere in my enthusiasm. I am considerate of the perspective of others.
I work with joyous energy.
I am thankful for the gift of Zeal: It ignites my idealism.
