New addition: Mini Creative Dance Kids' Camp with Nikko Snow Euro Studios, Victoria Monday July 27 - Friday July 31 10:00 - 11:00am
Kids engage in high-energy rhythm and dance! Includes improvisation,
percussion, singing and stories. Influenced by jazz, African and Latin
movements. Suitable for ages 4-6.
Also: Earth Dance Kids' Camp OUR EcoVillage Shawnigan Lake
Two dance instructors + Two eco-activity leaders = heaps of fun!

Board is made up of seven "MoonDancers", five of whom have been in
Guinea, and were involved directly in the Kubian School Project.

Choose one, or rotate between djembe & balafon. Please bring an instrument if you have one, or register in advance to reserve one.
Djembe: the typical hand-drum of West Africa and beyond! Wine-glass shaped shell with a goat skin, this versatile, penetrating instrument is often the Lead of the ensemble.
Balafon: the ancestor of the xylophone, the balafon is the melodic 21-bar instrument of the Griots ~ the historians of West Africa.

Naby Camara Juno award-winning percussionist
from the African Guitar Summit, and the
legendary National Ensemble of the Republic of Guinea, Naby's talents are not only balafon and djembe, but he also a skillful teacher, as well. (Lagni Sussu, Seattle)
Manimou Camara
Through study and performance with prestigious artists and performance groups: Ballet Saamato, Merveille
de Guinee, Sekou Sylla,
Karamoko Daman, and Bolokada, Manimou has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to share with students. Dounia Djembe, Seattle
Mohamed (Andre) Duranteau Talented dancer and singer, Mohamed's passion shows through in his teaching. Among his many credits: Le Ballet Taille, Aklysso, and Le Ballet Kali. (Wontanara Drum & Dance, Victoria)
Each day has many workshops to choose from, as well time for swimming, private lessons, nature walks, or quiet time... There are also many additional activites, such as a Guinean dinner, a forum on contemporary issues in West Africa, and a Doundounba (dance party!).

Keyké Faré performs at various events, from major festivals to birthday parties!
Keyké Faré means "MoonDance" in Susu, the language of our family and teachers in Guinea.
Catch the energy, enthusiasm, and camraderie of this dynamic ensemble!

OUR EcoVillage

O.U.R. ECOVILLAGE is a 25 acre Sustainability Demonstration Site and Education Centre.
This project has been developed as a 'Community Asset" owned by community, designed by community, and created by community. As a fully participatory project you are invited to become a member/owner, become part of a project committee (some pretty good learning opportunities here), and/or volunteer with onsite or offsite learning projects (includes everything from food production, educational forums, conferences, festivals, building projects, to administration).
