Earlier today, four principals were appointed by the Board of Education.  Each of these new district employees bring with them a wealth of experience.  The article below provides some insight to their experience, and identifies the school for which each will serve. 
 
There has also been a change to the elementary school lunch menu for Thursday, February 14, 2008.

Clarkstown Central Fills Four Principal Openings
 
Christine Conway, Principal Bardonia Elementary - Since 2002, Ms. Conway has served as assistant principal of Central Valley Elementary School in the Monroe Woodbury School District where she began her career as an elementary school teacher for grades two through five. Ms. Conway is also an adjunct professor at Manhattanville College and is a consultant to the New York State Education Department for Social Studies.  She holds masters degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership, and is pursuing a doctorate in Politics and Education at Columbia University.
 
Lisa Maher, Principal, Woodglen Elementary- Ms. Maher has served as assistant principal and acting substitute principal in K-5 schools in the Lakeland Central School District in Yorktown Heights since 2004. Ms. Maher has also served in leadership positions in the Haldane Central School District in Cold Spring as an Administrative Intern and later as the District Technology Coordinator. She holds masters degrees in Mathematics and Early Childhood Education from the City College of New York and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY New Paltz.
 
Dr. Diane Mitchell, Principal C School Felix Festa Middle School - Dr. Diane Mitchell joined the Clarkstown Central School District in December of 1990 as a teacher of Special Education at Clarkstown High School South. She was promoted in September of 2000 to department chairperson for Special Education at the Felix Festa Middle School, a position she currently holds. In this capacity, she is responsible for all Special Education programming and supervises more than sixty teachers and teaching assistants. She is also an adjunct professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Dr. Mitchell holds a doctorate in Instructional Leadership from St. John's University and a masters in Special Education from Fordham University.

Debra Forman, Principal New City Elementary - Ms. Forman is currently the Administrative Intern at New City Elementary School and also serves as the school's learning facilitator providing direct professional development to teachers. She joined the Clarkstown Central School District in 2005 as an elementary staff developer in the West Nyack, New City, and Lakewood Elementary schools. Prior to joining Clarkstown, she was an instructional facilitator with the East Ramapo Central School District creating and facilitating professional development opportunities for teaching staff.  She holds a masters degree in Curriculum and Theory from Fordham University, and is completing a second masters from the College of Saint Rose in Administration and Supervision.
 
Save The Date!  Chili-Cookoff
  
The Clarkstown Education Foundation will be holding a major fundraiser on Saturday May 17, 2008 at the Pascack Community Center on New Clarkstown Road.  A chili cook-off, square dance, games for children and more are being organized.  Please hold the date.  More information will follow from the schools and on the website.
 
Change in Elementary Lunch Menu

The lunch menu for Thursday, February 14, 2008, has been changed to Pork Rib Sandwich on a Whole Wheat Bun, Oven Baked Potatoes, Fresh Fruit or Juice and Milk.
