 3rd Annual Mile for Mothers

We're so excited about the NAMC's third annual Pre-Mother's Day Mile for Mothers scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9:30am to 12:00 pm on the Boardwalk at Riverside Blvd. in Long Beach. This fundraiser supports mothers worldwide.
We've added a series of documents to help you in your fundraising efforts. We're still looking for teams and volunteers on the day. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

 Breaking News ... Mothers Central Blogger Kate Fineske is Going to Mom Congress! 
From Sunday, April 29th - Tuesday, May 1st NAMC will have two (Wo)men in Washington! Last month we put out the word that mothers could enter to represent their states as a State Representative for the 2012 Parenting Magazine's Mom Congress on Education and Learning in Washington DC. NAMC's own Kate Fineske was selected for her state, Ohio. "I have always been very involved in Education as both a parent and a college adjunct and have a strong interest in education advocacy." Kate shared with us.

  School Bus Ads
Many parents have expressed concern about commercial advertising on school buses that some schools districts are selling. For those of you who are trying to make a case to your school district that this is not a good idea, there is now evidence that the financial benefit to cash-strapped districts is hardly worth exposing children to commercials during their trips to and from school each day.   'Green' Jobs for Women
The U.S. Department of Labor released a guide to help women prepare for, find and succeed in 'green' jobs. "Why Green is Your Color: A Woman's Guide to a Sustainable Career" is designed to help women learn about a range of in-demand and emerging jobs, as well as job training opportunities and career development tools in the clean energy economy. The guide also serves as a resource for workforce development professionals, training providers, educators, career counselors and women's advocacy organizations.
