10-10-11 International Mothers' Centers Day
October 10th, 10-10-10, was established as the International Mothers' Center Day on the 10th anniversary of mine network in 2010. This year, on 10-10-11, the focus is Meet The World in Mothers' Centers and highlights Bulgaria. There are three Mothers' Centers in Bulgaria, all run by Roma women. This country was chosen to dispel the myths about the Roma peoples and to serve as a great example and inspiration on how to handle difficulties of being a minority group. They are sharing aspects of their unique culture including mothers' stories of challenges and triumphs, children's songs and Bulgarian recipes.
mine is an international movement and a network to facilitate co-operation and exchanges between hundreds of Mothers' Centers currently existing in 22 countries: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canada, Cameroon, Czech republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Lichtenstein, Nepal, Netherlands, Russia, Rwanda, Slovakia, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA.
