Greetings!
How's it going? Hmm...how is it going? Aren't we all asking ourselves that question these days -- checking in with ourselves, our lives, the world around us. It is an interesting, challenging and exciting time to be alive. These days, when change is being forced upon us and demanding we look at how we conduct our lives, it is still possible to find joy, gratitude and balance.
Recently, on a particularly challenging day, two of my most beloved friends shared the following poem with me. It has been in my head now for the past few days and has definitely colored how I've taken in the day's challenges. I think you'll like it.
BirdWings
by Rumi
Your grief for what you've lost lifts a mirror
up to where you're bravely working.
Expecting the worst, you look, and instead,
here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see.
Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes.
if it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralyzed.
Your deepest presence is in every small contracting
and expanding,
The two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
as birdwings.
Life is both brilliant and bewildering. Luckily it is filled with so many unexpected and wonderful endeavors. Especially at the holidays, we hope that you are finding the joy in the simple things: time with family, friends, good food , the smell in the air, the lingering fog, the lights lining downtown ...
May you find your way into the studio this season for some time to appreciate yourself and all that you've done this year. Whenever your schedule allows, we hope to see you and help you thrive through this busy time.
With all of our deepest thanks and blessings,
All of us.
