Dear Friends,
I'd like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who supported us on Community Day. We had a great turnout and such fun meeting new students and catching up with old ones. It reminds us why we started the studio and do this work. Thank you for your support and dedication. I also want to introduce you to our expanding Wellness Clinic. Because we know that movement and exercise are not comprehensive for whole body health and wellbeing we've made other resources available to you in the studio. You can now experience massage, reiki, chiropractic, acupuncture and more, and have these disciplines directly related and applied to your Pilates work. Our goal is to help you establish relationships with our practitioners so that we are all working from the same understanding of what you need -- your injuries, your goals, your lifestyle. This way wellbeing is a lifelong practice, not an intermittent wake-up call. We hope that you'll meet some of our Wellness Clinic practitioners in the weeks to come, share our resources with your friends and family, and enjoy all the studio has to offer.
Be well. Chantill

Find some stillness
Take a moment each day to pause...
In the past few weeks I've started a sweet little ritual of getting up early to sit on my couch and watch the sun come through the trees. It's nothing really. Sometimes it's only five minutes. Early rising is not my strong suit, but it's been worth it. I just sit there and do nothing. This is not easy, but ultimately finding this moment of stillness changes my day. I know you hear people say this over and over again. We know the value in it logically, but do you take time to feel the experience of being still? Knowing it in your body is what makes it stick, what makes it potent. I find that taking even an extra moment in my car before I go into the studio is extremely rewarding. I can finish listening to a song I like or sit quietly and just people watch. I don't necessarily think about anything. In fact, I try not to. Because I am always planning, always out somewhere ahead, this small pause makes me simply be where I am without any expectation of the next thing. The more you do this, the more you can recapture the physical experience of settling into your body, into the moment. Start small. See what you can do in the coming week, and track the physical sensations that arise. You can name it -- "This is being still" or "Being still feels like ..." -- that way you have a point of reference later in your day when you are not able to be still. The effects will be cumulative and rewarding. |
