The average Professional Lines premium is $2,500. That average is primarily brought down by our extreme competitiveness in Non Profits as their average is $2,000 with minimum package premiums of $1,500. Average premiums for private company D&O are $5,000 as are the same for EPL. The renewal retention on these classes is a staggering 89%! In fact, some policies sold are for up to three year terms.

Much of the competition in CA has been foolishly giving away the store and are now doing one of the following; non-renewing and pulling out of the marketplace or taking dramatic rate increases. EPLI - Employment Practices Liability Insurance
EPLI This special program has really come to shine in recent months in California. Although the $10,000 SIR was on the high side 6-12 months ago, it is now one of the lowest in the marketplace. You will more likely find an SIR of $25,000-$100,000 now if you go elsewhere. Also, this policy makes both Full Prior Acts and Third Party coverage available to most policies. To top it off, all policies get complimentary HR service and free/discounted Background Checks. By the way, Defense Costs are outside the limits of liability.

Sure, it's not mandated by the state to carry this like Work Comp (which we also do) but let me tell you why you still need it. The average settlement cost for plaintiffs is over $150,000. Even if you didn't do anything wrong but a lawsuit is brought against you, defense costs will still need to be paid and the $10,000 Self Insured Retention is far less than your total out of pocket in defending yourself. 
D&O - Directors & Officers including Non Profits and Corporate
