Nperspective in the Marketplace
Each month we provide what we believe to be useful information to our readers to help them understand opportunities that exist in the marketplace. While many of these perspectives have been developed through our years of experience or our work with our clients, we also further develop our knowledge base through our participation in many organizations and events throughout each year.
In recent months, we have had the opportunity to sponsor and/or participate in the following:
ORGANIZATIONS
- Orlando partner Debbie Adkins continues her involvement with multiple organizations/associations, including her volunteer work as one of 20 members of the FASB Small Business Advisory Committee (SBAC). This role is an opportunity for all of our referral partners and business owners to provide feedback to the FASB on accounting pronouncements. Please take advantage of this local resource. Also, Debbie was the Chair of the FEI 2012 National Summit Conference held in Orlando in May 2012. In addition, she is working with FEI's national groups on helping COSO modernize its 1992 Internal Control Framework and as well as working on Private Company Standards.
- Tampa principal Maryann Carlton has joined the Tampa Bay NDIA's (National Defense Industry Association) committee for sponsorship. For people who are involved with the defense industry and are interested in learning more about how involvement/sponsorship of this organization will help their businesses grow, please reach out to Maryann at mcarlton@npcfo.com.
- Orlando partner David Rosenfeld has joined the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Orange County.
PRESENTATIONS
- Janet Watson presented Business Development in Professional Services to the Orlando Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association in August.
- Managing Partner Gary Colbert presented "Leading Companies through Transition: Exploring the Operational and Legal Issues of Distressed Companies" at the 2012 Florida Bar Business Law Retreat in September. This was our third year sponsoring the Florida Bar Business Law Retreat for the business attorneys throughout the state.
SPONSORSHIPS
- We are sponsoring the Florida Companies to Watch event on Friday, October 19 at the Rosen Shingle Resort in Orlando. This marks the second year of our sponsorship of this awards program that celebrates second-stage companies throughout the state of Florida. Candidates must be privately held, commercial enterprises with the intent and capacity for further growth. Companies must employ between 6 and 99 full-time equivalent employees and have annual revenues between $750,000 and $50 million in annual revenue.
- The 2012 Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Florida Capital Connection, being held on Amelia Island on Nov. 7 & 8, offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet a diverse mix of financial and business professionals who can assist them in identifying and securing investment capital for their enterprises. Nperspective Managing Partner Gary Colbert will again be moderating a panel of financial executives who will be addressing Access to Capital to help CEOs learn about the process of raising capital, how to be more successful and make some good contacts, which is always a challenge.
