Youth Ablaze Camp 2011 a total success!!!

As you know, in Sept. we had a week-long youth camp, primarily for indigenous teens. Of the 50 registered, we had 45 come to camp! Most kids were not saved when they came to camp but 25 received Jesus into their hearts while there! Also, 8 teens received the infilling of the Holy Spirit and we baptized 20 in water!
Hallelujah! It was an amazing week with the Word going forth morning and night and the ministry of the Holy Spirit was changing hearts and lives every day. The kids were so different when they left. They came hard-hearted, hurt and in many cases, abused. When they left, they had hearts filled with the love of God, a hope and vision for a good future, and the desire to share this with family and friends.

We are already getting one testimony after the next of how their lives have changed and it is overflowing and changing the lives of their families!! Glory to God!! Thank you everyone who gave finances, resources, prayer and encouragement! You have a large part in this harvest! Following are some testimonials from the kids from camp.
Love and blessings,
Stephen and Rachel

Sometimes, being Christians we tend to live in a bubble. We know that others around us are living in hurt and pain but we're not moved to do anything about it. At camp I realized that this was somewhat true for me even though I live on the mission field. I saw the other kids around me being touched and having hurts and pains healed and I found myself crying but I wasn't sad. Later, I realized that it was actually compassion overwhelming me. It was like being asleep and then having an alarm clock go off and the reality of the world hitting you. I felt like I woke up and saw the world, these kids and all they go through in life, through fresh eyes. This has inspired me to do more to reach others and I hope it inspires you too.

Camp was a blast! It was a huge blessing to be around Christian kids for a whole week, and it really encouraged me. I found peace that I hadn't had before, and I was glad that God used me as a vessel to pray for other kids there. I feel like God used camp as a way to instruct me personally in working with teens and training me in how to be led by the Holy Spirit, particularly being led in prayer. When we came home, I found that I was more hungry for the Word. Something else that really blessed me at camp was watching the change in the kids. Ones that were hard hearted and hurt at the beginning of camp were the ones that had so much compassion for others at the end of camp.
On Thursday night, there was a move of the Holy Spirit and it was cool that we didn't leave all the praying for the adults. Kids jumped in and were praying for each other, and comforting the ones that were weeping (most of us were). These were kids who were drinking and smoking the day before camp, ones who were living in broken homes and ones who weren't Christians or 'church kids'!! I learnt that several kids go to my school, and even though I'm not around them or in their classes, it comforting for me to know that, hey, I'm not the only Christian at school. There is someone who's got my back. God gave me Christian friends who understand and believe the same things I do, and that was something that I didn't have before camp. Thank God for changed lives and fresh starts! PRAISE HIM, JESUS!

For me, camp was like shaving. I went feeling all nasty, dirty, and scummy. But after the week at camp, I left feeling new, clean and fresh. I stopped smoking, I got filled with the Holy Spirit and got my prayer language. I made new friends who are Christians and will stand strong with me. It changed my life! |

I was brought up in a Christian family and I've always known there was a God but I've never had the real understand and the knowledge. As I got older and turned into a teenager, my family hit rock bottom after my mum, 6 sisters and I had tragically lost our father. We all went our own ways and 3 of my sisters started going into depression as well as myself. The only solution I had to get rid of my pain was drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. It was all the answers to my issues. I still tried going to church every Sunday and praying, but I still didn't have that real understanding of the Lord, this went on until this year. I was invited to go on this youth camp for 6 days. To tell you the truth I really didn't want to go because I was embarrassed of how I lived my life and I was afraid that everyone would judge me. But when I went to this camp I noticed that I wasn't alone! The other kids smoked and drank as much as I did! During that week out in the bush with nothing but God to talk to and praise and having His word being said every day and night really opened my heart up and the Lord came to me. By Pastors Stephen and Rachel's help I had the chance of being able to refresh my relationship with the Lord and then BOOM!!! That's when He hit me!! The Holy Spirit embraced me and God told me that everything will be alright. :)I just can't explain how overwhelmed I am of the Power of God! He well and truly changed my life around and even gave me the strength to stand in front of 43 other youths of my age and preach His good word! I never in a million years thought I'd be able to stand up and in front of so many people. But obviously I thought wrong. :)In fact He renewed my mind and heart and ever since I gave my heart to the Lord I can proudly say that I have CHANGED!! Drugs, alcohol and smokes don't interest me anymore! |
