The church continues to grow as we have new visitors every week. Since the last article we have had three new people receive Jesus in our services. Actually, are congregation is mostly new believers! Praise God! We have purposed from the beginning to seek and save the lost. As a result, we will be having our first Water Baptism service on November 13th! We are very excited about that!
1 Peter 2:2 says, "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby." One of our greatest joys is watching those who are new to the Kingdom of God, begin to grow up spiritually. Most of the people we work with have no religious background at all. This makes it easy for them to receive the Word and believe it. As a result, their faith is simple and uncomplicated. We want to share some testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of our new believers.
Wendy is 21 years old and a new Christian. She is Aboriginal and lives in a homeless shelter with her mother. She comes to church faithfully, even though it often means being teased and taunted by the others at the shelter. She knows God loves her and she wants to know Him more. Wendy faithfully reads the Bible we gave her. In fact, she sleeps with it because in her words; "They steal around here, and they can take what they want from me but they can't have my Bible." Last week Wendy's mother (pictured above together) was in the hospital having two operations. Wendy prayed for her mother and she immediately began to get better, the doctors released her after four days when they had originally told her she would be there up to several weeks to deal with the infection. God is good! He responds to faith!
Doug is a young man we met staying in a homeless shelter. He had been out of work for several months. He received Jesus, began coming to church and bringing others with him. One Sunday, he determined before church that he would put some money in the offering, and then have enough for a Coke after church. This was all the money he had. During offering, he heard God speak to him and tell him that if he would give God what he had, that God would take care of him. He responded by giving all he had in his pocket. The next morning, he got a response from a job he had applied for months ago. They were not only offering him the job but were going to double his pay because they needed him right away!! Hallelujah! That is the God we serve! He is Jehovah Jireh!
These are just a couple of many testimonies we could give you. God desires to show Himself to people. He only needs the opportunity and permission to work in their life. Another young man from the homeless shelter got saved, started coming to church, and God made a way for him to get his own apartment and had job opportunities. Another young man got saved, started coming to church and God restored his family relationships which had been lost prior to that. The bottom line is that God loves these people just like He loves you. We encourage you to look for those who seem "unlovable" and be willing to be the one who gives them the answer they so desperately need - Jesus! Serving God is a privilege not a price and we are thankful to be used of God. Thank you to all of you who have a part in this through prayer or financial giving.
God Bless You!
