"Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together." Hebrews 10:24, 25

The church is doing beautifully!  In the past month, we have had seven people born again and four people filled with the Holy Spirit on Sunday mornings. The majority of our church people are new believers. It has been a precious thing watching them receive Jesus and then begin to grow in Him.

From the start, we have prayed to be an effective, power-filled church, with an impact on our community. As we have preached the salvation of God and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, people are receiving and hungry for more! Over the past few weeks, particularly, we have had services with the sweet presence of God and moving of the Holy Spirit. People have been touched, and their lives forever changed by His presence.

As we are growing, the need is greater to serve each of the members of our church. Starting the first Sunday in October, Corrie Page will launch a Children's Church service in conjunction with our adult service. Also in October, Rachel will begin teaching a weekly women's Bible Study. In addition to this, we are still feeding the homeless weekly and doing home visits. Please continue to pray for us as we reach out to the Cairns community and fulfill God's plan for His church in this region.

Breakthrough!
"Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men."  Matthew 4:19

In the past month we have had a major breakthrough with the ministry in the homeless shelter. We now have a core group who have received Jesus and are being discipled weekly. They are then telling others in the shelter about us and what they are learning from us. It is exciting for us because we have spent four months plowing what seemed like difficult ground. When we first started going into the shelters, both the residents and the staff were skeptical and wary.

Now when we arrive, people are anxiously waiting for us. We are greeted with remarks like, "Hey Pastor, I was hoping you were coming, I need prayer." or "Pastor, I need to get straight, can you help me?" God is amazing! We even have staff asking us to pray about their concerns and allowing us to encourage them from the Word.

People are receiving Jesus and coming to church and bringing others with them. This is how the Gospel is spread here. There aren't Christian TV channels, unless you have cable. There is one Christian radio station that plays depressing music and spouts garbage. People are won individually, discipled individually, and then they tell friends and then they tell friends and so on. God is such a simple, loving, gracious and merciful God. People in need of Him know it. They want what we have and we are blessed to be used of God to bring the Gospel to them. It is LIFE.

Carla (pictured above) met us through shelter ministry and has received Jesus as her savior! Now she and her boyfriend are attending our church.

Healing!
"Daughter, thy faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague." Mark 5:34

Denise was widowed seven years ago when her husband Peter lost his battle with Cancer. Early in 2010, Doctors told her that she had Cancer as well. A mutual friend asked that we visit Denise and pray for her. When we met Denise, she was battling depression and was fearful of the report her doctors had given her regarding the surgery she was scheduled to have, and also, the following treatments. Denise told us she was a Christian but had not been to church in years. She had no ties to a local church and no family nearby.

After praying for Denise to be healed of Cancer, she had surgery, and the doctors were amazed to find that the lump was not cancerous and had shrunk which made the surgery must less invasive and she did not have to have any following cosmetic surgery! Praise God! The name of Jesus is above the name of Cancer!

Since meeting her, Denise has become an active member of our church and a very important part of our family. She is wonderful to our children and we spend time together weekly. She is pictured here with Hannah. No longer struggling with depression, Denise is one of the happiest people you could meet. She has a new love for life, and a passion for God that she hasn't experienced in years!

Please keep us in prayer as we seek after God's plan for this church.

Love and blessings,

Stephen and Rachel
