Hello!

3
We are having a wonderful time serving God in the Cairns region and are excited to share with you some of what has been happening. Over the past month, we have had several people we have ministered to, be able to leave the crisis shelters where they were staying, and get a home of their own again. This is by the grace of God. These people had no hope before Jesus, but have received the Word and by their faith, have changed their life situations!

One day, we entered a homeless shelter, Rachel began talking to an Aboriginal woman. She had lost her home and her children. She told Rachel she was thinking if she could get to a church, someone would help. Rachel told her not to worry, she brought help with her. His name is Jesus Christ. The woman's face lit up! She received Jesus right away. She is now out of the homeless shelter, living with relatives and is attending our church every Sunday. She is pictured here with Rachel after church.

It would be a very long email to share with you everything God is doing. We could tell you testimony after testimony. During a hospital visit, an elderly woman was healed of arthritic pain throughout her body and was able to walk normally instead of stooped. During a visit to a nursing home, a woman wanted us to pray for her eyes. She had a film over her eyes and had to put paper to her face to read it. After praying, she was waving to workers about 50 feet away! She was so excited! She had not seen such a distance in a long time! The film was completely gone from one eye and almost totally from the other. It is God's heart to touch those who are in pain, in brokenness, and those who are lost and separated from Him. When we go into the community, it is God who goes with us and works with us, confirming His Word. He is faithful. He heals the body and the soul. It is our honor to serve Him!

Living Light Church of Cairns

4After much prayer and leading of the Holy Spirit, we have pioneered a church here in Cairns, together with Pastor Bill and Corrie Page, of Papua New Guinea (pictured).

5
On July 18, 2010, we had our first church service in Cairns. We had 65 people join us and attendance was remained steady.

7We have a wonderful mix of Christians seeking a church where they can actively be involved in the church and in outreaches to the community, as well as new believers who are learning about God for the first time.

8One thing we prayed, is that God would create a multi-racial church. This is not common in this region. We want to be a church that draws all men.

We have over 12 nations represented in our congregation! A large part of our congregation are Papua New Guineans, Aboriginals, and Torres Strait Islanders. We have a great time together in worship every week! Following the service, we have been having weekly BBQs to fellowship and get to know one another better. We are becoming a close family!

9People from the church have started going with us to do outreaches and are excited to see first-hand what God is doing in people's lives. As a church, we have begun a new outreach to the community, called "The Samaritan's Box". This is a food pantry to feed the needy in our area. It is another avenue to reach the hurting and broken with the love of Christ.

6We are so excited to offer the Cairns region an on-fire, Holy Spirit filled church that preaches the uncompromising Word of God. We have had a great beginning and are looking ahead to even greater things in the Lord!

Please keep us in prayer as we seek after God's plan for this church.

Love and blessings,

Stephen and Rachel
