Hello! We are very excited to tell you that we are planning
our first outreach to an Indigenous community! On June 19th, we will
be going to Yarrabah, an Indigenous community about an hour's drive south of
where we live. There are approximately 3,000 Indigenous (Aboriginal)
Australians living there.
We have visited Yarrabah and were shocked to find
third world living conditions. Almost every home is dilapidated, there is junk
and trash everywhere, and roaming dogs that were starving and diseased. More
importantly, there are children everywhere.
They have nothing to do so they
wonder the streets. The teenagers gather in groups on top of broken down cars
to do drugs or fight with rival gangs. There is an air of hopelessness that
envelopes Yarrabah. This is a community
that desperately needs the love of God and the truth of the Gospel to set them
free!
We have spent the past few weeks in Cairns talking to Pastors and Ministers who
repeatedly tell us that no one is doing anything in Yarrabah. Everyone is in
agreement that something needs to happen but no one wants to be the one doing
it. When we visited Yarrabah, we knew immediately that God has brought us here
for this purpose. We are told repeatedly that it is too difficult. We say
nothing is too difficult for God! Any inconvenience is worth a saved soul. We
are so glad Jesus didn't look at the cross and decide it was too difficult!
The outreach in Yarrabah will be focused on the children. We
believe that when we reach the children, we will draw the families to Jesus as
well. There will be games, music, give-away prizes, and the Gospel. Please join
us in praying for this outreach. We are believing for a harvest for the Kingdom
and for relationships to be established so we can continue a work in Yarrabah.
This outreach into Yarrabah will be the first of many outreaches. There are
five more Indigenous communities that are north of Cairns. At this time, this is our primary
focus. The Indigenous people of Australia
are not a forgotten people! God knows them well and He desires that none should
perish! For God so loved the
WORLD that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believes on Him should
not perish but will have eternal life.
