Annual Report 2010 Cover

This Sunday, 2.27.11, 11 am, at Grace

Once a year Grace meets to help Grace Happen all year.

Our annual meeting is a chance to review where we've been, what's in store for 2011, and to celebrate those who have worked tirelessly on behalf of all of us. We will also select new leadership for our Bishop's Committee and affirm a budget for 2011. Please plan to attend, and help us help you support our community of Grace.  Be sure to bring along the report mailed out last Friday. If you need a copy, you can download with the link below:

Lenten Gatherings

lenten season

Lent is a very special time of year. In the cold of winter we huddle together with those we love and remember that spring is coming. In the church we focus on cleaning our hearts of the things that have been weighing us down so we can celebrate Easter together.

This year, Grace is excited to offer a Lenten series for every member of the family. There will be opportunities to share a simple meals and good company, deepen our faith, and pray for new life to come into the world.

Eat. Sing. Make art. Laugh. Pray.

Earth & Spirit

RePower Bainbridge at Grace

E&S LogoSign up for a Free Home Energy Assessment during Coffee Hour

If you are an Island homeowner, you probably recently received a letter from the City announcing RePower Bainbridge.

Faith communities are taking an early lead in helping Island homeowners sign up for a free energy assessment. This is all part of a large grant that Bainbridge Island received from the Department of Energy to help residents and businesses save money on energy costs, make their homes and buildings more comfortable, and create a clean energy future for the Island.   Through the RePower Bainbridge program, you can receive a no-cost energy assessment for your home, a customized energy action plan detailing cost-effective measures, and assistance with incentives and rebates and financing.  The ultimate goal of the project is to save 7000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions through energy upgrades.

You can sign up for your free home energy assessment at our Welcome table during coffee hour, or you call 1-877-741-4340.

Visit >> repowerbainbridge.org to learn more.

In the near future we will also be able to have information at Grace for a similar program for off-island homeowners who live in Kitsap County.

Environmental Service Learning Project

Josie Hill

My name is Josie Hill and I am in 3rd grade at Odyssey school. I am doing an Environmental Service Learning Project in science. I want to learn more about garbage and recycling and composting.  I hope that I can help Grace Church reduce its waste on Sundays. I will be weighing our garbage each week. My goal is to reduce waste at Grace over the next four months.  Please help me by using the compost bin and recycling bin and not throw so much in the garbage.  Thank you!

Bishop Eugene Sutton to Speak at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

With All My Heart: A Spiritual Path to Transformation

The Rt. Rev. Eugene Sutton, Episcopal bishop of Maryland will offer a public address at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 111 NE 80th St. in Seattle, Wash. His talk entitled, With All My Heart: A Spiritual Path to Transformation will address the balance of actively seeking justice in the world while maintaining a spiritual center.  Sutton says, "Opening up one's heart in reaching out to those in need should be the joyful response of the people of God for the gifts of God, and yet volunteering can so easily become a source of frustration, disappointment and burnout for those who want to give more of themselves to their church and communities."

Tickets will be available beginning March 10 at Brown Paper Tickets at brownpapertickets.com
