Hey Everyone--

Ah, the carrot at the end of Finals Week is a full weekend of skiing at Crystal!  Here are the details you'll need, with some questions I need answers to.

Who is Going?
We've got a full van and full house--15 kids, plus me and my trusted assistant and gopher, Will de van Dershueren.  Will is Cole's big brother, a junior at the University of Washington, and an Alive & Well alum.  I will be driving the gang in the Grace Van, and Will will follow with our gear truck.

When are We Leaving?
We will plan to be on the 5:30 ferry leaving Bainbridge on Friday.  That means leaving Grace at 4:45--so plan to meet at Grace at 4:15.

Where are We Staying
Buck Creek Camp is located on Highway 410 just past Greenwater and before heading up the Crystal Mountain Boulevard.  It's not fancy, but it is pretty comfortable, tucked in the trees, and near Crystal.  We have one of their buildings to ourselves, with bunk rooms and a big living room with a small kitchen for snacks.  We will have breakfast Saturday and Sunday, and dinner Saturday, in their dining room.

What to Bring
I would love to have skis, snowboards and boots dropped at Grace on Thursday so we can pack the truck and van efficiently.  Kids will need sleeping bag, pillow, towel and just lounging clothes in addition to their ski stuff.  Packing space is limited, so don't bring too much.  Once we are off the mountain each day we plan to lounge, relax, listen to music, tell some great stories.

Lessons and Rentals
I know that we'll have some first time skiers with us, which I think is perfect!  My strong suggestion is to take a full day's lesson on Saturday, and then try your new skills on Sunday.  I will shepherd new skiers to rentals and lessons, and will be delighted to ski with them part of the day on Sunday.  Here is a link to the lessons offered at Crystal--and they can easily be packaged with rental and lift ticket.  Beginners get a great deal!

Question: Who plans to take lessons and will this be a first time?
Question: Who plans to rent skis/boards/boots at the mountain?

Cost
Lift tickets are $55/day--unless you are bundling a lift ticket with a lesson.  Some money will also be needed for lunch on the mountain on Saturday and Sunday.

Food and Extras
The plan is to eat Friday's dinner on the ferry--so bring something to eat.  And we will welcome snacks to share throughout the weekend.  Experience tells me that tupperware packaged cookies are wonderful.  We will be bringing the usual snack items of salsa and chips, with token amounts of healthy alternatives.  We'll also bring drinks--and extras are encouraged.  Dropping off food extras on Thursday is also a big help.

Administrative Stuff
We do need to have all permission slips and registration costs delivered to the Grace office as soon as possible.  Thanks!

OK, so this is plenty of information--and what else would help to know?  As always, I look forward to these trips--because I love to ski, I love the mountains, and I love the time we get to spend with each other.  See ya soon!
