When the news seems bleak, what grounds

and guides our spirits in these troubled times?

On January 28 and 29, Fritz and Vivienne Hull, co-founders of the Whidbey Institute, will be inviting us into a deeper personal spiritual life in the context of the new Universe/Earth story, and the ancient, earth-affirming teachings of the Celtic tradition. Through discussion and reflection, the group will explore how an understanding of the sacredness of all life can be a resource for individual transformation, inspiration, and living open to the Spirit, so that we can give ourselves whole-heartedly to the "great work" of our time

The workshop will begin Friday evening with a reception and talk open to the public.

A smaller group will gather Saturday morning and afternoon for workshop time. The Saturday session, limited to 30, requires pre-registration, and will be a Grace-only event.

Registration forms will be at a sign-up table in Walker Hall during coffee hour in January.

The registration fee of $30 includes lunch.

Authentic Movement Winter Series

Dear Women of Grace,

At the Grace Women's Retreat last Spring we had the pleasure of experiencing Authentic Movement and Witnessing with Lynn and Lee Fuller. I was moved by people's experiences and thoughtful comments afterwards. A number of participants asked that we offer another experience of Authentic Movement at Grace.

Lynn is offering a six-week winter series. This practice of mindful movement provides the tools for calming and focusing. It opens the door to the inner world in a safe and supported way. Lynn has been my teacher in many ways for many years.

Open House at The Island School

On Wednesday, January 26 at 7 pm, interested parents are warmly invited to join faculty, alumni and current parents to learn more about The Island School and its educational program. The Island School, at 8553 NE Day Road, offers kindergarten through fifth grade and an extended day program. Financial aid is available. The heart of our school lies in keeping the joy of learning alive through an engaging curriculum filled with wonder, laughter, creativity and discovery.

Madrona School Informational Brunch

Madrona School is having an informational brunch on their Kindergarten on Wednesday, January 26th from 9 to 10:30 am. The Kindergarten teachers will be there and will discuss the benefits of their multi-year program, different kinds of play, and building foundations for academic learning.

Open House at The Island School voyage montessori

On Thursday, February 3rd at 7 pm, interested parents are invited to visit Voyager Montessori Elementary School for parent Information Night to learn more about Voyager and Montessori elementary education. Parents and children are also invited to attend an Open House on Saturday, February 5 from noon until 2:00 to visit the classrooms, meet current students and chat with the teachers. Voyager Montessori Elementary School located at 8225 NE High School Road, offers elementary education for students in grades one through six grade and specialist programs in art, music, fitness and chess. Israeli Speaker at Kol Shalom

Congregation Kol Shalom, Stand With Us Northwest and West Sound Hadassah will be sponsoring Israeli speaker, Assaf Nisenboym, a 26 year old Israeli citizen who is in the Northwest at the request of Stand With Us, an Israeli international organization that promotes support, understanding and education about Israel, as a road to peace with its neighbors. Assaf will share his experiences with us as an Israeli.
