Project Backpack
Project Backpack is in full swing at Grace!  This annual back-to-school program serves between 150-225 Bainbridge families each year. Supplies received by Helpline House by Aug. 20 will be distributed immediately for children in need of school supplies this fall. Other contributions will be used in the future. GIVING A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME to help a neighbor--
can be as easy as 1, 2, 3

(1 hour, 2 people, 3 Shifts)
Friday, August 27 - 2-6pm
Safeway is opening their doors Friday, August 27, from 2-6pm to assist Helpline House in stocking their much needed foodbank. A few times a year the local churches on Bainbridge join together to hand out flyers and receive donations for this much needed community outreach. If you have 1 hour to help out please let us know. 2 volunteers per hour is recommended. We'll need 6 people to cover 3 shifts.  If you have children this is a wonderful experience for them to give back to their community. Please contact Candee Heald in the Grace office, 842 9997,

PARTICIPATE FOR AWARENESS:

Crop Walk

Put your best foot forward and volunteer to join team
Grace in the CROP Walk this year. What's a Crop Walk you ask? Find out by reading a great story about the 2008 Crop Walk. Recruiter training for this local hunger-awareness event is held August 16th (evening); the walk is September 26th.  And be sure to eat out on September 23, Restaurant Day, when local B.I. restaurants contribute part of their sales to CROP Walk.

Freedom Run
Is there too much exercise?  Participate in the Freedom 5K Run.  This local B.I. walk/run event aims to raise awareness surrounding human trafficking both in our state and internationally.  The Freedom 5K run starts 10AM on September 25th at Waterfront Park; more info is available via info@freedom5krun.org.

Dare to Dream

Grace Church Retreat,

Fort Worden State Park
October 22-24, 2010

After a year's hiatus, we will gather once again for a weekend at Fort  Worden for the all-church retreat, October 22-24. Thinking of going? Then you'll want to jump on it now because this popular event has limited capacity and fills quickly.  Registration for the retreat has been ongoing since June and will wrap up on September 15. This year we have begun a new tradition with on-line registration. You may also register at the Membership table in Walker Hall following the 9:30 am service on Sundays.  Register for the entire weekend, or as a day associate.  Those spending the weekend will be assigned to one of the 13 officer houses, each large enough for three or four families.

Cost for the retreat is as follows:

Full Weekend:  $110 per person,  $215 Couple, $250 for a Family of 3, $260 for a family of 4 or more.

Day Associate:  $25 per person, $40 per couple, $100 per family.

A deposit will hold your space,  payment must be received in full by September 15.  Reservations are confirmed when payment is received.

Homecoming Picnic on the Patio
Sunday, September 12

Homecoming Sunday is a great Grace tradition, and this year will be no different.  Let's celebrate our coming together with a picnic on the patio, Sunday, September 12. After the 9:30 service, please plan to stay for hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers provided by Grace.  We'll also supply lemonade and iced tea . Bring your favorite side dish, salad or dessert to round out our picnic fair. There will be special activities for the kids to enjoy and plenty of time to visit as we rejoice in another coming together of Grace folk.
