Booger Red Liquor

Texas and cold beer go hand-in-hand and in a county that's been wet since 2008 but still had no package store, Janna Parson jumped at the opportunity to open Tulia's first liquor store.

In a well-regulated industry, Janna worked closely with SBDC Assistant Director, David Dickerson to ensure she had all of the licensing, training and financing needed to open shop and sell alcohol. Although the process was more taxing than it is for most other types of small businesses, Janna's determination and sharp business skills helped her navigate through the paperwork and she officially opened in January 2012.

Each Wednesday is "Everybody Wins-Day" at the store and everyone who makes a purchase picks a ticket to win a free prize like a t-shirt or coupon. At day's end, one lucky customer wins the grand prize, usually a well-stocked gift basket! "Free Tasting Friday" happens each week and customers are able to sample select liquor, wine and beer before making their weekend purchases.

Business is phenomenal and Janna is glad to be an asset to the town she loves!

Television Opportunity
A national television production company has contacted our office in search of businesses interested in participating in a TV pilot. Left/Right's casting team is working with a major cable television network on an exciting new real-life series that will showcase personnel issues and solutions in the American workplace.

The pilot will be a real-life series about unique American office environments that could benefit from a management expert.  They're especially interested in hearing from mid-sized successful companies that need specific help with a personnel issue - whether that is a disruptive employee, a lethargic sales team, or a challenging manager.

Did you know...
In 1995, the founders of Google originally named the company BackRub. As the search engine gained popularity (yes kids, back in the day Google was merely a search engine) the name was changed to Google, based on the mathematical word googol. Just think, if the name hadn't of been changed we might be "backrubbing" things instead of "googling" them.
