Tyler's Barbeque

He has a devoted group of followers who take their barbecue seriously, he's his own boss and he can eat a chopped brisket sandwich just about whenever he feels like it. Yes, Tyler Frazer is living the life!  Running a restaurant is by no means easy, but as Tyler takes lunch orders, prepares ribs and answers questions about the menu, he makes running a restaurant look like a walk in the park.

Tyler worked with Julie Attebury at the SBDC and she was able to guide him through the start-up process and help him decide on a legal formation and ensure that the business had everything it needed before opening. Thanks to Tyler's previous experience working with restaurants, the opening went smoothly and continues today.

New restaurants many times have hard starts with few customers, but rarely is there a time at Tyler's when they don't have a room full of customers enjoying the food and laid-back atmosphere. The barbeque is made fresh each day and when it's gone, they close up shop until the next morning. Tyler is famous for his barbeque ribs, but the peach cobbler is a favorite with customers and the huge chopped beef sandwiches are a meal on their own.

Give Tyler's Barbeque a try next time you have a craving for barbeque, but be warned, go early or you may not get a parking spot!

Tips & Tricks

Not everyone has an iPhone or one of the much coveted new iPads, but if you're using one of these mobile devices, here are a few good tricks for saving battery life. A few of these were new even to our technology loving staff!

  • Disable push notifications
  • Turn off vibration alerts
  • Manually fetch new email (I changed this recently and my iPhone battery life almost doubled)
  • Disable time zone settings

Veterans' Opportunity

Are you a veteran with a small business selling a product or service? Federal rules require that government agencies, on the local, state and federal levels, spend a portion of their budgets with veterans, preferably service disabled veterans

Current Federal opportunities locally working now include various projects at B & W Pantex; numerous opportunities at the VA Hospital and bidding for work at Cannon Air Force Base.

State and local government agencies also give preference to various categories of suppliers, including Veteran or Service disabled Veteran.  Others include Minority owned, Women Owned, Native American Owned and Historically Underutilized Business zoned businesses.

If you fall under any of these categories, please contact Rick Palmer with the WT Contract Procurement Center to learn how to take the first step to selling to these agencies. Contact Rick by phone at 806-372-5151 or email at Rick@ContractProcurementCenter.com.
