Watonga Cheese Factory

Watonga Cheese Factory, a proud Oklahoma Texas tradition. Watonga may be new to Perryton, but did you know it's been around for over 70 years? Founded in Watonga, Oklahoma, they've been making all-natural cheese that tastes as good as it looks.

Current owners Casey and Brandi Cowan purchased the business in 2002 and spent several months learning the ins and outs of cheese making, along with Watonga's generations old recipes. Business was booming and things couldn't be better until Tropical Storm Erin hit Oklahoma in 2007. Their building and entire inventory was destroyed during the storm, forcing some hard decisions on the Cowans. Sheryl Hardy with the Perryton CDC seized the opportunity to bring an established, family owned business to town and the Cowans relocated the business Perryton thanks to incentives the CDC was able to offer.

David Dickerson was asked to meet with the Cowans to help get them back on their feet. He helped them complete their presentation to the CDC board that included a business plan and detailed financial projections and played a

Watonga sells cheese online, in their Perryton retail store and to distributors across Oklahoma and Texas. Cheese can be purchased individually or in gift baskets and they have flavors like Onion Cheddar, Pepper Cheddar and Bacon Cheddar!
