Nettez House of Dessertz
  Annette Montano

Nineteen years of catering experience specializing in desserts was exactly the experience Annette Montano needed to open her own bakery.

After some help from the SBDC with her business plan, financial projections and locating property, the business is now open in the old Record Rack building on historic 6th Street. After a remodel, the building has been transformed and has a quaint sidewalk cafe feel.

Annette serves many different baked goods from oatmeal cookies to wedding cakes as well as breakfast and lunch.

Don Sanders is named the 2009 Small Business Person of the Year!

Don Sanders, owner of Amarillo's Sir Speedy has been named the district winner of the Small Business Administration's prestigious Business of the Year Award. This is the second time the SBA has honored Don with this title.

Don is a former WT SBDC client and is still very active with the SBDC, assisting with many programs. Don built his business from the ground up and has become a respected leader among Amarillo business owners and entrepreneurs. He serves on the board of the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved with the Entrepreneur Alliance among many other activities.

We congratulate Don and wish him the best of luck as he travels to Washington D.C. in May to compete for the national title of Small Business Person of the Year!

Our favorite websites this month....

Zeer
How many calories are in that cheese danish you're about to eat? What about the giant energy drink you're going to wash it down with? Now you can know exactly what you're about to eat before you bite into that 1,000 calorie snack! Many foods have also been rated by Zeer.com users.

Food Network
Even though some of us in the office are shall we say, culinarily inhibited, FoodNetwork.com still proves to be one of our favorite go to places for new recipes.
Most of the recipes list the cook time and difficulty level and many are user rated (we prefer 5 stars with a less than 10 minute cooking time at the easy level!).

Spring is in the air (although there are no flowers on Mars), ice volcanoes are erupting on Saturn and there are dust storms on Earth. All of this can be seen from space with the help of NASA's powerful telescopes. Their Kids' Club is a great resource for fun and school alike.
