Success Stories
The Hayes
 Shorty & Allison Hayes

Shorty and Allison recently moved back to Amarillo from Arkansas and purchased an existing franchise called Once Upon a Child.  They sell new and used children's clothing, furniture, toys and accessories.  Sales have increased dramatically after being in business for only a few months and they anticipate the need to add on to the store.  They were referred to us by the Arkansas SBDC and we assisted them with their business plan and financial projections.

Could $75,000 Help Your Business?

The Amarillo Enterprize Challenge is a program designed to assist entrepreneurs in launching a new small business or expanding an existing one.  Everyone who participates gains a better understanding of how to develop and follow a realistic business plan, and qualifying entrants can request a share of $300,000 in capital funding grants.

Enterprize Challenge logoEntrepreneurs proposing to establish or expand a small "basic" business may request up to $75,000 in funding. This request is to be submitted as part of the business plan.  A basic business is defined as one that primarily exports its products or services outside of the Amarillo area, thus bringing new money into the local economy.

Participants are encouraged to attend one Orientation Workshop and one Financial Workshop. These workshops are designed to assist participants in understanding the Enterprize Challenge and helping them with specific data that should be included in the business plan and financial statements.

The last Orientation Workshop is Thursday, December 6th at 4:00 pm and the Financial Workshop is Tuesday, December 18th at 4:00 pm.     Applications and business plans are due by Wednesday, January 16th.  Call the Enterprise Network at 374-9777 to register for a workshop.
