Professional Volunteer Opportunity: Hand in Hand for Seniors
Looking for an opportunity to prepare to get back into the workforce, or a deeply meaningful way to "give back"? Hand in Hand for Seniors, Inc. -- a member of the Huntington Community Council -- is a new not-for-profit community-based agency whose mission is to help seniors age in place. Located in Huntington Village, the organization seeks a volunteer Executive Director to take charge of the day-to-day activities of the program. This position reports to President of the board.

This role requires a self-starter who is dynamic, innovative and focused.  Organizational, inter-personal and leadership skills are a must.  Computer and social networking skills would be a big plus.

Duties are varied and multi-faceted, ranging from business development, volunteer supervision and membership services to routine office responsibilities.  Until adequate funding is received, the position is voluntary with reimbursement for job related expenses, and possible future employment as organization grows. Hours (25/week) are flexible.

Interest in this rewarding opportunity should be directed to:
Anne Meyer, President, Hand-in Hand for Seniors, Inc., 164 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743, Tel-631-629-4449, handinhandforseniors@gmail.com.

Twenty distinguished community leaders were appointed to this group and charged with "identifying the root causes of Huntington Station's problems and developing possible solutions.

This group helped form the annual Huntington Awareness Festival, which is growing each year and performs a significant community outreach role, and greater coordination between Town of Huntington Public Safety and the Suffolk County Police. More must be done, both to address critical issues facing the community and to highlight the positive things that are occurring.
