Hackensack High School: Creating a Culture of Character and Achievement Part II |

On Wednesday, February 27, 2009, a school and
community initiative titled Creating a
Culture of Character and Achievement: gang
awareness and resistance, dealing with anger,
resolving conflict, become a person of
character continued with two
presentations – one to over 400 tenth
graders and the other to a core group of
district leaders including the
superintendent, administrators, board of
education members, supervisors and law
enforcement personnel.

Challenges was held in Atlantic City, New

Families of Virginia Tech Tragedy Seek Truth and Accountability with Lawsuits |
|
On Thursday, April 16, 2009, two years after
the Virginia Tech shootings, the families of
Julia Kathleen Pryde and Erin Nicole
Peterson—students who died in the
tragedy—filed a lawsuit in the Fairfax
County
Virginia Circuit Court and issued a statement
explaining why.
"We raised our daughters with a sense of
integrity, a desire to seek the truth and a
belief in keeping their word. Virginia Tech
did not keep its word to us. We have filed
this lawsuit in the hope that we will receive
accountability for the tragic events of April
16, 2007."

Safety Expo was held at the Livingston Mall
in New Jersey as coordinated by the
Livingston Police Department.
The venue was a collaboration of federal,
state, regional, county and local law
enforcement agencies. It represented an
outstanding community policing initiative
allowing residents to interact with law
enforcement and public safety officials.
